Default Transmission Issues

Hello, I have a '96 F-150 with the 4.9L with a 5 speed. 210xxx miles, never had any issues before yesterday. I was getting off the freeway, and was attempting to shift into 3rd, however it seems like something is blocking it. I also noticed that when in any gear except 1st, the stick moves significantly more than usual, as in, 5-6 inches to the left or right, as if it were in neutral. There is NO grinding, and I don't have any trouble getting into any gear except 3rd. I took it to a local garage and they said most likely it's bent shift forks. Any ideas? Is it still drive-able? And I'd like a rough estimate on how much it's going to run me for repair. Thanks.
