Ok, sorry to hurt your head man... I have googled, even have removed/replaced u joints before... However, I have only ever done it with the drive shaft removed. I don't know if just utter force upon the "caps" of the joint will work while both yoke's are in place, as it is a T shape, so if you beat on one end the joint will only move so much then it is hitting the other yoke? I know how to get them out when the drive shaft is removed...

I guess what my question is How do you remove the u-joint with the driveshaft still bolted in place to the pinion flange?

How do you remove the u-joint from the driveshaft once it's out? Same thing as if it's on. The u-joint doesn't unbolt from the driveshaft. Use your head man.

I would tap one end until the cap on the other end pops out, then repeat... sorry just pm'd you. Is this what you do when the shaft is bolted up?

Just seems like the cross section of the joint would stop when it hit the other yoke? When the drive shaft is out, the one yoke can move if need be... am i wayyyyyyy off or just f****** stupid?

Does it hit the other yoke when you beat it out of the driveshaft? No it does not.
