Default What do I do with OD

Have 95 F150, 302 auto. OD button is on colume. Do I leave it turned on all the time or just when I want it on the hyway. Gas mileage is not great and I wonder if turning off OD switch in the city would help.

most people will tell you to turn OD off when towing. iv also heard you get better MPG with it off up to around 45 mph since turning OD off gives you more rpms (best gas mileage is around 2k rpms) so turning OD gets you closer to 2k rpms faster. i only touch it when im climbing steep hills, pulling trailers/hauling, and up in the woods.

Default Thanks for the info

Thanks for the information. Will try running with it off for a week in town and see if it changes fuel mileage. Sounds like it will not make a difference but have to try.

Am getting 11 miles to US gallon and 13 to canadaian gallon. That is about what my F350 deseil gets when loaded. See what happens
Again thanks.

Just leave the OD in the on position unless you are towing.OD happen when your truck reaches around 45 mph and the torque converter locks up and drops your RPMs ( fuel saving ) Turning the switch off around town will not change anything

seafoam is a chemical you can buy from most parts stores to desludge your engine. here is a write up on how to do it, its the same concept on our 9th gens.
