What did you do to your truck today?

I spent most of yesterday trying out my new dual action buffer I got for Christmas. I used rubbing compound first to remove all the dead paint. Finished up with a coat of cleaner wax.

Wow, that red really pops! Looks fabulous!
So, what kind of buffer did you get, and how did you go about getting the paint to look so good? My hood is covered with swirl marks from previous owner that I'd really like to get out, but I'm hesitant in attempting to fix it because I don't want to make it worse!

Finally got around to replacing the rear shocks and changed the differential oil, also changed the map sensor, next up transmission fluid, the front shocks plus the coolant temp sensor.

I have a Porter-Cable 7424XP dual action variable speed polisher. You can buy them for $120. I started out with liquid 3M rubbing compound to clean all the dead paint off using a yellow colored pad. I then did the truck with liquid Meguiar's cleaner wax applied with a blue colored pad.
After watching many youtube videos to learn how to use this stuff, it all came out perfect without swirl marks or anything bad. This is the first time I've ever used a dual action buffer. My wife and I can't believe how good it turned out
This is the factory paint the truck came with from 1991

Everytime i get in the truck i seem to notice the wing window handles, the plastic is discoloured and bleached from the sun, so last night i popped out the roll pins and pulled them, lol Have about 6 coats of paint on them now.
Simple enough mod, even something so basic i enjoy.

Got a new dome light lens off eBay and got it installed today. Makes a nice update! I kept the old bulb because it looked nicer than the LEDs I had left over from the dash. Maybe I'll try a different type of LED at some point.
Damn i've looked on Ebay a couple times and only ever saw the white ones, i did find a clear one but only on one website and i never got around to ordering one....
Do you have the address of the Ebay page ?

That looks good Clint - I ended up getting the clear dorman 74351 replacement - for whatever reason they say it doesn't fit my 94 but it did - and it gives it a much cooler glow look with an LED than the original lens. I'll have to take a picture to show it off. Only thing that sucks about it is you can plainly see the "Made in China" label when it lights up LOL.
