Default Went to a scrap yard!!!

Went to a scrap yard this morning. Not a auto scrap yard, a yard that does recycle all types of metal! Guy had a 89 Bronco out there yesterday, but the owner wasnt there and the guy running the yard called him asked him if I could come back today and talk to him about it. So I did, and we talked about the engine in the Bronco. 5.0 with only 69000 miles on it. The owners son rolled it in 95 and its set in the yard since. It has been started but not within the last year. Since its going in the crusher next week, he has allowed me to get the engine, provided I give him mine when its pulled out. So, I wanted to hear it run, so we put some gas in the tank, battery in the box, and it started up almost immediatly. BUT after it warmed up, it shook bad side to side like a plug or 2 wasnt firing, but as we pulled each wire off, the engine would miss, so I dont think its a problem with firing. Second thing we noticed, again warmed up engine, that if you revved it up to around 2100 - 2400 rpms, the coolant would blow from the cap, at idle it was fine, but the irratic idle was present. I think I can eventually cure the idle problem, but what would cause the coolant to blow from the cap like that.

sounds like head gasket is blown and forcing more pressure into the cooling lines.

Thats what Im thinking too. Im wondering if that is also causing the irratic idle as well?

for that low of miles on the block it would be a nice motor to refresh and put in your truck
