Check and see if you got the right pump maybe go to rockauto.com or something and search the pump and see if it is the same.....

2. It could be a bad pump and water is coming out of the weep hole which leaks to tell you its bad.

It should be the same pump. 99% of the parts from 1968 to 1995 small block fords have interchangable parts.

Where is the water coming from exactly? Weep hole? Or behind the pump? Or behind the timing cover? My guess is you missed a bolt, or the seals are completely trashed.

Right you are on the parts mostly being interchangeable. I have seen a different model pump on early models like 85, vs others. I assumed he was sure it was coming from the pump otherwise I have seen many a time a leaking timing cover.

Check the gasket between the truck pump and the mustang, the ports might be facing a different way between the two causing your leak, also the pumps will fit, but there is a difference between rotations.

Reverse for serpantine, standard for v belts.
