If you google fuel Strategies it would help you under stand how long you should let your truck warm up. You`re not saving any gas or helping emissions intell the ect hits about 185 degrees.

My 1995 is a Manual Transmission. I dont think you can Remote start a manual (at least not one from the 90's). I had that problem with a 2001 Kia, I could get an automatic to remote start, but I can't over ride the "clutch depressed" condition for start up. Most modern Manuals dont need you to drop the clutch to the floor to start them (my 2008 Kia for example).

AkTech, Its not about fuel economy, its really about what the engine wants. That is the heart of the matter. Most of us driving 20 year old F150's probably dont worry about gas too much. Its about what is good for the life of the engine, and not stressing it more than we have to.

Course, then I hijacked the thread and started asking cold weather questions...

Use the search bar for better gas mileage on any of the engines of the 8th or 9th gen trucks and tell us how many pages u come up with.

It is not what the engine wants, it's more of what the ecm wants to do with the information it is getting from the sensors.

My ex's mom runs a car audio and remote start shop and she said they could put a remote start in my truck with the 5 speed. She said you have to leave it in neutral and somehow they wire the remote start into the truck to trick the sensor the clutch is depressed. Kinda shady if you forget to put the truck in neutral but works like a dream if you remember

Yep, just need to wire up the unit with the Clutch Pedal Position sensor, but you would need a starter that is for manual.

I found in my 1987s truck manual, you start it let it idle for 30 seconds and off you go.
