Default Upper Intake Manifold

Hello all,

For anyone who has had to remove the upper intake manifold from a 4.9 I6, It looks pretty straight forward except for the egr exhaust pipe running through the most rearward opening. Is there an easier way to do this? I'm afraid if I try to break it loose it won't be pretty. If it breaks is there a flexible type of replacement. The upper connecter is no problem but when I tried to put a wrench on the lower one there really wasn't room to get the wrench on it. I sprayed it yesterday and again today with some penetrating oil but I am still afraid it isn't going to go well. Any tips would be appreciated. (by the way the reason for removal is to replace a leaking valve cover gasket.)

Thanks Marc

U talking about where it screws to the manifold. Guess i got lucky. I dont rember spraying it down but i hardly put any pressure on it and it came loose. A couple good soaks of pb blaster or liquid wrench should be good and let it sit then right before you try it. Dont put a lot of pressure to see if it will break free. Do you have torches. If so and you cant break it free heat it some that should always work

Take out the inner fender and you will have more room to play.

Duh, Why I didn't think of that I don't know. It looks like that will make life easier.

I'm talking about the lower connection that connects to the rest of the exhaust.
