Default An unfortunate event...

So I just side swiped my truck into a car that ran a red light and turned into me... the door is completely done for and the bottom part of the cab is pushed in about two inches wrinkling the floor to the seat mount. Anyone ever have a similar issue? I'm just looking to see how hard this is to fix and any advice for insurance stuff. This was my first accident after driving for 6 years and am very proud to say that it wasn't my fault.

OUCH, that's probably the best spot to hit your cab, if it was a foot back it would definitely be totaled, still may but much less likely.

it will come down to how much of a pain your insurance company is. a new door, paint and all the stuff involved if you have a shop do it should be around 1k. but they may get picky and want to try fixing the cab, so it might be best if you can try bending it back yourself, or find a nice shop who will help you out a little.

haha sorry.

If I were you I would check for frame damage, if it checks out to be all good then id take the door off and find a replacement. and bend the bottom out myself.

I was thinking if worst case the insurance claims it's totaled, we are going to take a check and keep it. I'm going to try to get her insurance to pay though. My insurance is great too. My friend was driving my car and hit a bicycle and broke the rider's leg and they were more than willing to fix the car and they offer accident forgiveness... also we have full coverage on it. If it turns out we take a check, we are going to pull a door from the JY and have my dad repaint the entire thing. First probably take care of our front end creaks and groans though.
Also I forgot, no frame damage, just the "pan" right there at the door.

O.O how? That seems like alot for an older truck. Mine is only $1800 KBB so I imagine insurance would give me about the same in a check. Although to me my truck is worth alot more...

truck only had 106k on it when i wrecked with 0 scratches and dents. they first offered me 3200 and i turned it down saying it was worth more.

i pulled up the most expensive 9th gen f150s i could find on Craigslist and faxed them to my agent, 3 or 4 days later he called me with the $5500 offer and i accepted. i also kept the truck.

Nice! I will most certainly attempt this if I ever get into a wreck. I could use a new Transmission mine gives me trouble all the time, and $5k would definitely do the trick! Im sure mine would be considered totaled in ANY wreck because it is 20 years old...
