Um, 5 MAP sensors?

Um, 5 MAP sensors?
I just bought a 1988 F-150 4x4 with a 302 EFI, auto trans. Bought it from some guy on the Internet and had it shipped to me. It was supposed to run perfectly, instead it was DOA. Cranked fine but wouldn't fire. Towed it to the shop. They put a MAP sensor in it and it runs perfect.
That should be end of story I guess, but then I find service receipts in the truck since 2012. This is the truck's 5th MAP sensor in 3 years! The last one was in March. Among all the parts on these receipts, MAP sensor is circled on all but the newest one. As if someone else was noticing this too.
This is very unusual right? Any ideas what would be causing this? I'm thinking I need to figure this out before I have to buy another one!
Thanks!
Toby

Here's something to consider that no one has mentioned.
Is your hood cowl seal present or has it cracked or even flaked and cracked all the way off? If it is not present, it is water getting into your MAP sensor.
I don't know how the newest Motorcraft sensors are built, but the Wells brand sensor is built with this gel that keeps moisture out. I'm hoping Motorcraft's has some sort of water sealant properties like this.
However, in my opinion, you need to look at that hood cowl seal and replace it if it has flaked and cracked all the way off in addition to replacing your MAP sensor or your problem will likely keep happening.

Ok, your cowl seal needs to be replaced. The top part is no longer there. It has chipped and flaked off. It's supposed to have a lip that hangs over about an inch at the top of the seal.
Water is coming in on your MAP sensor.
I attached a seal below you can use as a starting point for your search.
Also, that rubber elbow coming to that MAP sensor looks a little like it's on the dry rotted side, which is probably causing it to leak vacuum a bit, which isn't helping the cause. HELP! makes a vacuum elbow for a few bucks you can get as a replacement. I don't recall the part number, but I'd hit a few parts stores up and try to find that as well.
Replace these parts along with that sensor and you should be set for awhile.
