Default Turn XL into XLT?

I was thinking if I am going to fix up my truck I might as well add options I want, so how hard would it be to wire XLT doors, power windows and locks, into my XL and add cruise control? Also thinking about a power sliding rear window, like a Bronco, any ideas?

I guess that's one way of doing it, if only it made my windows and locks power....

Keep it as it is. The roll-up windows are probably more reliable and easier and cheaper to fix if they break. I think the XL trim might be lighter which will save on gas and give you better power to weight ratio... I have a '94 XLT and although it is nice to have the power windows, it's not a deal breaker. The cruise control can be nice but it's also not neat as you might think as it will sometimes downshift automatically when going up hills to maintain speed and that kind of sucks... Of course, it is your truck and you can do as you like. Good luck either way!

Thanks guys. My truck is a manual so it wouldn't downshift, atleast I don't think it would.

Go to the junkyard and pull the parts you need. The doors are made to accept either manual or power windows. The wiring harness is usually separate or mostly separate from the main harness and usually plugs right in to the fuse box. The door panels are different but you can probably cover your crank holes with the switches. I didn't research our particular truck but have done it on other vehicles and it's not a big deal.

I want to get new doors because mine are all dented, so I'll go with the XLT and figure out how to hook them up.

I thought about doing this in a while (maybe a year or so). I would appreciate a good write-up on your experiences. Any decision points you had or work-a-rounds. Thanks
