Tune Up Parts
I'm going to do a tune up on my 93 302 4x4 auto. General recommendations of type of wires, brand of plugs, rotor, cap. I know different opinions, just wanting to get a general feel for the best way to go. I'm not looking for performance, I'm not a go fast guy, just want something solid for good efficiency.
Thanks!

Springer Spaniels Rule
MSD spiral core wires, ac rapid fire plugs, msd cap and rotor, they are brass terminal not aluminum, and they are cheaper than the standard ign parts, as far as side gap, I do it on everything, truck, cars, lawnmower, chainsaw, snowblower, etc. Or if you dont have access to msd, get a good set of silicone wires and a standard cap\rotor with brass terminals, but most auto parts stores now carry MSD.

I say all the MSD stuff listed but use Motorcraft or Autolite COPPER plugs....no need to crossbreed plugs...
I have GM and Ford and Dodge and I prefer the Autolites in all of them...

Thanks guys, just the info I need.
A little PB Blaster on the plugs a day or two before changing out? I'm guessing I've got the original set in there at 122K

The search is over for the link(s)http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...ht=timing+bump & http://www.performanceunlimited.com/...degapping.html Brass is your friend! Also, upgrading the wires to the MSD 8.5 superconductors (as mentioned) is worth every penny. AC/delco X2 plat rapidfire finewires or M/C x2 plat finewires, E-3's also from what I'm told, for stock gap plugs. Stock M/C or Autolite copper core for gap stretchin or sidegap. I perfer them for base time bumpin too. For a comfortable 16 BTDC, if that's what your lookin for. My M/C coppers seem to run cooler sidegapped at .054 than stretched to .056. Exchanging spark kernel flash exposure for voltage intensity. Once your dialed in you can go 700 miles @ 80 mph, nonestop w/o skippin a beat. My 87' 302 also gets 19 mpg while doing it. 17 mpg around town & 23 at 65mph. Life.....is good! (at least til I get out of my truck)

AC/Delco double platinum rapidfire finewires or Motorcraft double platinum finewires for stock gap (no stretching or modding). E-3 are supposed to work good for stock gap also. Personally never tried them. They came out after I went to sidegap. They are copper core Nic plate, but can't be modified as far as increasing gap size so your stuck w/ the gap out of the box, like the finewires. Trippy plug though, for a stock gap plug. They would probably timing bump well, w/ just a healthy stock coil, as would the other two. But for stretching & sidegap, nope, no & nada.
