Default Transmission Replacement

Hello forum, I just inherated a 92 F150 4x4 from a family member. The only major issue at this point is that I need a transmission. I have the transfercase but no transmission.

Where do I start to hunt down a replacement transmission>

What do I look for and what to avoid?

How much should I expect to pay for a repalcement transmission.

You can look at junk yards. Or there are plenty of companys that will build you one. Do you have your old trans?

Well as an update...I discovered that my brother in order to go cheap replaced the 4x4 tranny with a 2wd tranny. I found a replacement 4x4 E4OD tranny for 400. I plan on replacing the tranny today.

Later today I will post a video of where I stand with the installation process. Maybe someone can tell me what else I might need.

Another thing I while messing with truck I noticed that the truck has dual tanks (very cool) but when I switch the tank switch to front the truck dies ASAP. What could be the issue?

You want the slip yoke end of front drive shaft towards the axle, and you may be able to order the ujoint clamps at the parts store or maybe another trip to junkyard, and i think the torque specs are 8-15 ft/lbs
