Default Transmission rebuild cost

My transmission needs a rebuild, what have y'all paid in the past to have an E40D rebuilt, I dropped it off to my uncle who owns a transmission shop, and he won't give me a price he just said not to worry a about it, but I want to give him a fair amount. Thanks

kit usually cost 400.00 or more the rest is labor and hard parts if any... most places charge 1,800.00-2,000.00 for a complete rebuild.

and thats if they do it right...

Overdrive automatics are expensive to have rebuilt. Minimum $1200, that's what I paid 10 years ago. GM tranny though.

Why don't you help out at the shop and see if the rebuilder will let you help. It would be a good learning experience and show your uncle you're not looking for a free ride.

I leave tomorrow to head to Florida to get married and then Jamaca for a week, and when I get back we are taking a motorcycle trip to Houston, and he wants to load down my truck and his trailer since it pulls with the best mpg, and this is my wedding gift.
