Unhappy Transmission question

I have a 1994 F150 that broke the shift tube so had to get a mech to manually shift the vehicle into drive so I could get home. Had to turn it off in "Drive" since I couldn't shift it and didn't know what the mechanic did under the truck. So after replacing the shift tube and reconnecting everything... I cannot start it because it's still in "Drive" and I need someone to tell me what I can do to manually get trans into "Park" or "Neutral" so I can restart the truck.

He probably disconnected the shift cable at the trans end. it just snaps on. You can move the trans shift lever by hand, all the way one way is park and all the way the other way is low.

Default Transmission question/answer

Thanks for that reply. Really helped. It makes sense. I have very little experience, but recently dropped the trans pan myself and changed the filter and refilled with fluid. I recall seeing that and so I will try it. thanks very much.
