Question transmission interchangable

I have a 1995 f150 302 8 cylinder 5.0 liter 4x4. My transmission measures 28" in length. I went and got a transmission from a 1995 7.0 XLT long bed 4x4 the transmission measures 32". Will I be able to mount it into my truck? The parts guy told me that the xlt was a c class or E class and if the latter it would mount into my truck? So has anybody have an answer for me?

You are going to need the same transmission that is currently in your truck or you will need to change out your computer and your driveshafts. The transmission code is on the doorjam sticker.

What's a 7.0 ?

If you meant to say the donor truck also had a 5.0 but the transmission is bigger than the one you have; I would guess you have a 4R70W and the one you picked up is an E4OD.
If that's the case, it's possible to use it but lots of things have to change; trans crossmember, driveshaft, probably the trans wiring harness and as BLD mentioned, the computer. It's possible, but a lot of extra work.
If the donor truck had a 7.3 it isn't going to bolt to your motor; not even close.

Haha I didn't even notice the 7.0 - yeah he needs a tranny from behind a 300, 302 or 351.
