Default transmission dipstick missing??

hey guys i have a 94 F150 with the 351 v8 and the E4OD transmission. looking around the engine compartment and this has bothered me for awhile, i dont have a transmission dipstick. is this normal or could it have snapped off? if i dont have one where exactly do i check the fluid levels and where do i fill the transmission with fluid?

Don't think it's normal - thinking there should be one somewhere. For my AOD tranny, it's on the passenger side between the engine and the firewall.

Checking the level and filling would be a real trick without a dipstick tube - after all, little reason to fill unless you know the level to begin with. Definitely suggest to find the hole and plug it for the short term to prevent moisture and crud from entering.

Suggest to find and install a replacement tube - any other way would be subject to too much guesswork, IMO.

Why Can't Ford Make a Reliable Transmission? A story by ymeski56. Why can't Ford make a Tranny that's reliable? Gee, that's a good question "Mr. Never checked the condition or level of his Tranny fluid since he's owned the truck"? Maybe, "Mr. Driver of the Bus" you'll soon be riding on knows! Or, maybe you should ask "Mr. Transmission fixer upper man" your gonna soon be handing Mr. Piggy Bank to. Even though he could really use Mr. Piggy Bank's help to make payroll this week, he'd probably locate your dipstick for you, if you asked nicely! I know of one place that if your Dipstick was,......you'd know it! But that's another story..................... The End. (or maybe just the beginning.Tune in to the next post, for the exciting conclusion!) NO,NO,NO,NO! that's not what happens!!! ' Mr. Transmission fixer upper man", helps"Mr. Never checked the condition or level of his Tranny fluid since he's owned the truck", find his dipstick ,tucked away in his "special secret hiding place." He says," Mr. Tranny Dipstick" has been verrrrry lonely!!! Not one drop of Fluid keeping him company!!!! So they both added 4 Qts. of tranny Fluid and....................they all lived Happily,....... ever,.........after! The End (version #2) Special thanks to BBF97 for puttin up w/ my humor, of attempt thereof. Because, by now he knows sometimes I just can't help myself!

if the dipstick and tube is actually GONE, you would have to be really low on trans fluid, that will leave a big ole' hole in your trans.

Godspeed my friend, Godspeed.

Maybe you should ask "Mr. Transmission fixer upper man" your gonna soon be handing Mr. Piggy Bank to. Even though he could really use Mr. Piggy Bank's help to make payroll this week, he'd probably locate your dipstick (or orifice) for you, if you asked nicely! Or go to the boneyard & and find the location on the cadaver Your gonna need a fill tube anyway.

FOUND IT!!!!! i looked up a few diagrams for the trannys and traced a dipstick tube up into the engine compartment. it was hiding under a insulation padding type thing right next to the passenger side of the motor. it was extremely hard to get to. it was pretty deep
