Transfer case shift motor
Hello guys I am new here and also new to owning a Ford. I just bought a 93 F150 AOD 4x4. It has the BW 1356 esof case. After tracking down the source of the 4x4 not working I found that the magnet inside the motor was broken into hundreds of pieces! I was wondering if the newer motors off a 97+ f150 would work if I changed out the square connector for the round one? The only difference I can see between the BW1356 and BW4406 shift motors is the plug. Can anyone help me out here? I can grab a motor from the junk yard off a 97+ easily. I am having no luck finding a 1356 motor in the salvage yards. I can get the motor for free because I know the owners and it sure is better than spending $130 bucks for a new one! Thanks in advance!

the same thing happened to us in my brothers bronco, on the trial, he managed to get the motor case off, and get it back in gear by turning the armature.
It looks exactly like a wiper motor. But the head of it has 5 wires running inside that tells the GEM all kinds of over complicated things. Leave it to the engineers to make a simple 4x4 system complicated. I will eventually grab one but I am trying to see if its even worth the effort to get one. All the trucks are on the ground which requires me to have it lifted so I can get underneath.
That's junkyard living. I hate the electric shift, that bronco trip ruined it for me. Nothing like cold, wet and stuck on solid level ground.
I think you could atleast hybrid the new and old to make a working motor, or just salvage a set of magnets and epoxy them in your old housing,

Thats exactly what I am going to do actually. If I actually needed 4x4 than I would convert to the manual shift. Here in MD we see very little snow and I don't take the F150 off roading. I have a Jeep for the 4x4 days. I just like all the things on my vehicles working properly.
