what do you mean? wierdest thing ever. i checked my transmission fluid again earlier while it was hot and it looked like the level was too high. its been a couple months since i've added anything, so i decided to let it cool. i went back out to the truck once its cool and now i have reverse.

still have no 4wheel. high or low. should i drain some of the trans fluid to be on the safe side? i'll check it again before i do since its cold, im just at such a loss now. would my transfer case affect how my transmission shifts? i mean it drove to work with no issues at all. once i got to work i couldnt get it into reverse.

i really appreciate your help by the way. lol alot.

Jeez! Now your having transfercase problems and transmission problems! Lol
It's hard for me to guess without having the truck here. All I can go on is the info you give me.

But if I were to guess... sounds like your trans is overheating. Your transfercase may be putting extra load on your trans and causing it to heat up because of its problems.

i checked the fluid again and it was a little high. i drained about quart out and checked again and it seemed closer to under the top pin hole in the dip stick. so i need to replace the transfer case asap. lol i hope i can go about a little over a week with it like this. short of gettin a large oil cooler for my trans, is there anything i can do to help it from over heating? like driving slower? lol

You should remove the transfer case and see how it functions when out.
Shift it by hand and see if it engages and starts spinning the front out put. You'll know if there's something wrong as it should be smooth and easy to spin.

I never recommend driving the truck when there is obviously something wrong! All your going to do is end up costing your self more money.

I agree with 7700. Pull it see how it engages and spins on the bench. You should be able to do it all with your hands.
