Default Transfer Case?

ok i was just given a 94 f150 that my pops bought for a farm truck and it broke down on us the first day. Go figure. The truck is a manual with 4 wheel drive. The truck starts fine, however when put into gear it won't go. We had a fella come look at it and he had my dad lock it in four and it supposedly inched forward a little bit (I wasn't there at the time). However, even sitting on a hill if we put the truck in neutral all around and take the e-brake off it will not roll backwards which is how its sitting. The man that came and looked at it said we needed a new transfer case, supposedly he works on transmissions for a living (which is what i thought it was at first). Anyone had this problem or possibly know\ what it could be, i'd hate to buy a transfer case and that not be it.

Sounds like the case is locked up, something came loose and locked it up.its fairly easy to get off, so take it off and try to spin the output shafts. And put the truck in gear and watch that output shaft and see if it turns with the case off.

I think I would pull the rear driveshaft off and make sure yer diff isn't jacked up first. Then go forward from there. Check the tcase then trans. Is it the 4 or 5 speed?

im sure you could find a parts truck that has good ones on it. maybe $300 for a tcase and rearend and swap out the tcase first and see if it works then. its proably a 5 spd. never seen a 92 and up with a 4spd.

If it's sitting on a hill, make sure you chock the tires so it doesn't roll while your under it.
