put some fluid in!!! are you sure it was trans fluid leaking? can be a leaky main seal if that's where you're finding the fluid. Maybe a leaking TQ converter?.

Leaking front pump seal is most likely the culprit.

Trans has to come off to fix it. If its the front seal, its right behind the torque converter. E4OD's are bad for that and burning out pumps.

Does that torque converter have a drain plug?

If so I'd start by checking that plug, you mention '2k since the change'.

Take the inspection cover off and look inside with a mirror. Sounds like a front pump seal though. Better not stray to far with it in this condition, friend was towing a small trailor with landscaping stuff on it when the seal finally blew and dumped 4 quarts all over even after knowing the seal was bad.

Does it only do this when its warmed up? It could be caused from a number of things like the trans getting to hot, the bearing the seal rides on going bad, etc so if its replaced look for any odd wear patterns. Also the old seal should be gray and the updated seal is either brown or black (made from viton).
