Question Trans is acting funny...

So this sunday i changed the oil in my "new" 1995 f150. after changing the oil i went to return it to the garage. i was feathering the clutch to bring it in nice and slow. about half way in i heard a strange squeaking noise. i pushed the clutch all the way in but it still was making the noise. then when i went to put it in neutral it wouldnt go. well with the clutch all the way in the truck stalled. I took my foot off the clutch and saw it didnt return to its proper position. I was freaked out cause i thought i somehow blew the clutch. My dad got in it and used his foot to bring the clutch back up and parked it.later on he moved it again and he said it acted fine the second time. So im confused as to what that could have been. I am gonna take it to a trans place and have them look at it but i would like to have an idea of what it could be before hand.
