Hi everyone. I have a 90 F-150 with a 5.0. My question is this, do i need a new transmission? i turn my key and i get dash lights and that's it. nothing happens but a whine. Also my shifter wont budge from Park but my truck can still roll like its in neutral. Is this affecting it from turning over. Any help or info is helpful. i don't want to throw parts at it. Thank you in advance.

 

So the truck won't start and the shifter won't move? Thats a bit odd unless the shift cable is stuck in a position where its says you're in park but stuck in another gear.

this thing is driving me crazy. I can work on it but my trouble shooting is terrible.

 

i even used w-d40 on all the parts that go from the tranny to the fire wall. thinking it was just froze up or something.

 

well i got the repair manual in pdf format and as i was reasing the trouble shooting guide and it says that the shift linkage is out of adjustment and has put the tranny inbetween gears. so i will adjust that. Thankyou
