Default Tranny trouble

Hey Everyone,
94 150 4.9 E4OD
Tranny has long delay minute+ when you shift into drive. After it shifts into drive its fine, that is till you crank and shift into drive again. 300,000 on my babe maybe I've gone the limit huh...Here's what I've done so far

Codes...can't figure it out? long flash short flash delay blah blah blah..have a Equus ordered that has OBDI lcd display showing the code numbers. Got one of those Actron plugin with led but unless it's dark it's hard to see the flashes. Yeah I could do the jumper wire and watch the dash but...really dont think codes if any will relate to tranny..

Checked fluid level...was good

Drained fluid changed filter and refilled fluid checked level ..good

Changed MLPS

What next? wait till the scanner comes in and recheck for codes?..

Did a quart of lucas didn't help..

Does anyone have any ideas before I pull it..Thanks in advance for the help!

Did you try the range sensor ? That would be my guess . 300,000 on the original trans is alot , how does it shift ? Rough, delayed etc ? Try cleaning the range sensor with electronic cleaner , if you can't replace. If that doesn't work move on to the mlps sensor .

Default Range sensor

Wireman,

Thanks so much for the interest! Yeah still fighting the tranny trouble to the day! I haven't checked the range sensor....or even cleaned it...my bad..I'm working nights and will check it this morning and report back ASAP..Here's the tranny situation as of now...In the morning you crank-up put her in drive and nothing...nothing...pull it down into 1st and you feel some tranny action......delay....delay...delay....then shift's into 1st.....and then you can shift into drive and everything is normal....head on to work or Walmart wherevever and shifts are fine...so you pull into a space at Walmart..shift into Park go in get what you need come back out crank-up and shift to reverse back out of the space and it's the same deal....nothing in drive. So shift to 1st...delay...delay...delay...catches..shift to drive...and your ready to go again..and that's my current status...

Hopefully it's one of the sensors , worst case im guessing the valve body is clogged with clutch material and it's loosing vacuum. Try the sensors first, 300k is quite alot though. Hopefully everything works out , try the range sensor and let me know

Morning , my bad i saw that you said you had change the mlps ( range) sensor . I meant to say the tps sensor . Is it aligned correctly ? My guess here is it could be an internal issue. When you changed the fluid was is dark ? Did you drain the torque converter ? Was the magnet dirty ? I'm unsure about the carquest part, i've never used them . But have heard mixed results about aftermarket parts from stores , some bad some good.

wireman,

no haven't changed the tps...the alignment of the MLPS is easy with the tool...didn't drain the converter, did change the fluid and filter that all looked great...no debris on the magnet..made sure level was good too.

Does the code reader come with a website that you can decode the beeps with . If it's trying to tell you something it should be pretty easy to look up what a certain number of beeps mean. Not sure about the flashes though .
