Default tranny question

im lookin at a 1986 f150 with a 4sp tranny but 3 and 4th gear are out but i have a 4sp from a 78f150 and was just wondering if the tranny would work both trucks are 4wheeldrive but the truck i was lookin at is a 300n and the tranny i have is from a 302 any advise would be great

If the 86 is not a hydraulic clutch and a 2 piece bell housing, it might, you will need to also check the bolt pattern between trans\bell if its a 2 piece, and if every thing does fit make sure to check the splines and input, its either a 1\8-23 or a 1\16-10. The only problem you might have is the output shaft between transfer cases, but if the cases are the same length and the shifter will work and the mount is in the same place, it might work.

i went and looked at the truck tonight and found out it only has 120,000 miles and no rust any wear and the ac actually works the truck has mech. clutch i just really hope the t18 from the 78 will work i dont know what 4sp is in the 6cyl. though
