Default Too far gone?

Is this XLT too far gone rust-wise by the looks of the pics? I actually don’t mind the panel rust at all, gives it a good patina, but is the panel rust a good indication of rust likely going on underneath? If there’s irreparable structural issues due to rust, that I obviously can’t get past.

Rust will need repair I dont think the truck is worth the price. Probably 2k in body work alone. I'd pass.

I mean with how much rust is on the body, odds are that it probably is rusty underneath, but I mean the only way to really know it going to be to look at it yourself. And like he said, $1999 is very high for the truck in that shape.

judging by the interior, the truck was likely not very well taken care off...a shame since its a great looking truck if it were in better condition. i love the stance and tire size

The tires are worth more than the truck

I had a Ranger I bought in Wisconsin. I took good care of it, but all the winter salt rusted out the frame of the truck. I remember one time my wife gave me a chunk of metal she picked up out of the gutter that had fallen off the truck! All the cab mounts rusted through and the frame has many holes in it by the time I scrapped out the truck. Didn't feel good trying to sell it to someone else even though the body looked in good shape. Wisconsin is murder on vehicles!! And the truck in the ad does't look half as good as my old Ranger did so I'd really steer away from it!

Patina is surface rust. There’s a whole lot more there, than that. Everything's repairable, it’s just not all practical.

Slide underneath, peel out the interior... count up the hours and parts, and I’ll bet you’ll find in excess of $10k in body work, easy.

I wouldn’t waste the time. I live n central Illinois and have friends in the Milwaukee area. Every vehicle that has that much rust on the surface, is on the verge of rotting in half.

Rust is a never-ending battle, that you can’t win with a truck that you drive year-round in the midwest.

Yep.

Probably? There’s a reason they were diligent and posted that many pictures, yet none from under the hood or the undercarriage. That thing’s about to break in two. I’ve seen many trucks that had sheetmetal in much better condition, that were just absolutely miserable to work on underneath due to all the corrosion. You break one nut loose, and a dozen parts associated crumble in your hand. I’d be surprised... no, shocked if any of the body mounts were remotely still solid, not to mention floor pans, sills, etc. You start body work on that truck and you’d be better off just starting on a different donor truck. There’s a reason that rust free trucks from other regions are imported to the midwest, every day. Save yourself the aggravation, expense and time... just go outside the region and find a solid truck that just needs some mechanical TLC. You can’t beat rust, it wins every time.
