Default Tips for getting this off

I am having a hard time removing the nut at the base of the coil spring. It's completely gone and there's nothing to grab onto. Any tips would be great.

I don't have a acetylene torch (yet) and if I could get this off without one that would be a bonus.

Do you have enough space to use a nut cutter?

You're going to need a new bolt. And both nuts. There's another nut under the spring seat.

I agree, I'd to go town with the grinder. But first, I'd cut the spring out of the way, cut the tip of that bolt that is protruding from the nut, hammer an impact socket on the nut, and let the impact do some work for a while. That would be more out of my own curiosity to see if it could pull it off if the rusty end of that bolt was out of the way.

Not looking forward to it but one way or another it will come out!

Where do I get another nut/bolt? Would an auto parts store carry it?

This is the part number for the nut 388833-S2 and this is the # for the stud 390678-S100 if it's destroyed . I think the nut size is 5/8-11 if you can get it off without damaging the stud. Good luck!!!

I'd try getting as much of the rust off as you can then soak it in a good penetrating oil. After that find a socket that fits the best, hammer it on and try to break it loose.

Thanks I appreciate the part numbers that should help a lot. Are those Ford part numbers? I was planning on getting them from the dealer if the local parts store can't get them.
