NO! You should always clean it prior to testing. I clean mine every year, as it's a common cause for pooching up your idle.

Your Throttle set screw should never be tampered with. If it has been, you will commonly get a TPS voltage higher than expected at idle error code.

And do I need to just go ahead and replace the IAC or should I give cleaning it out a shot?
