Go buy a Laser RPM reader at Harbor Freight & Tool for under $20. Place the marker tape that comes w/ it, somewhere next to your timing marks. Aim the laser gun at it & it will tell you your RPM. That's what I did until I installed a tach on my 87'.

Hmmm....just need to find one near me...or install a tach. And figure how how to install it. I've seen a bunch of threads about it, just need to find the most reliable method.

Or find an instrument panel at the boneyard w/ a Tach. It's a "plug & play" Item. Your cable connection is already set up to accommodate a tach, as it is a component option.

If you have a mechanical speedometer/ odometer, however, you can't replace it w/ the later electronic speedo/ odom, & visa Versa. (& it should match as being for A/T or manual Tranny)

That's the first thing I did to my 87'. I think I paid $25 bucks for the used instrument panel (A lot cheaper than the stand alone Tach I was going to buy.) Also, it preserves the "Stock" appearance.

Well...I'm not sure how to tell the difference between the two. Its a 92 with E4OD if that means anything for that. plus most the salvage yards have been picked clean of good/usable F150 parts for 8th and 9th gens, pick no pull anyway. The one salvage yard around here that I can't just walk around and find stuff at has a couple @$$hol3$ at the desk all the time. Every time I go there and ask if they have any parts (whatever i might need at the time) from 87-95 F150s they say no without even looking at anything. I think I'll just buy an after market one and wire it in.

I have a sunpro tach. I think the warm idle is 600. But that's whenever it settles down. And I will check my IAC. How do I clean out my IAC? Or does cleaning it even help?

Depends on how dirty it is, and chances are if its that bad you'll have to replace soon(ish) anyway.

So it probably would be pointless to clean it? And could my idle screw have anything to do with it?

Dosent "have" to be specially from a 95'. In fact the donor vehicle for my F-150's was a Ranger.
