Timing bump question
So last weekend I I bought a new brass cap and rotor kit, new plugs, new wires, new MSG ignition coil. And bumped my timing a bit it pinged a little so I bumped it back down I think I'm somewhere around 13.5 degrees, my question is that my motorcrsft plugs are gapped just shy of 50, I was reading I should probably be around 55? Is this a problem? Thanks
Nope, I'm gapped at 44. No problems. Did the bump a while after the plugs. I'll regap nwxt go around. The additional gap will give a little better fuel burn, but I don't know if yoy'll feel any power increase.

On my 95 300 I used Autolite copper cores, Taylor spirial core low resistance wires, a good rotor and cap (brass), but decided to keep the originial coil. I gapped the plugs at .050 and advanced my timing to 14 BTDC. It pinged a lot off idle so I dialed it back to 12 where it seems happy. I have not noticed a mileage increase but it has more power pulling hills. I get about 16 to 17 MPG in mixed driving and about 19 on trips at 70-75. Not bad for a 17 year old truck with 241k.
