Question throttle cable adjustment

Does anyone know if the throttle cable can be adjusted. I have a lot of play in my cable. So much play that I think when my foot is on the floor, I'm not getting wide open throttle.

I was wondering why I my automatic was shifting at 3500 RPMs with my foot in the floor. Then I manually put the truck in second gear, and accelerated past 3500 RPMs with no problem. Thats when I noticed that there was a lot of extra slack in the pedal. I used to have a ranger and talked to a lot of guys that snugged up the cable. I'm guessing after 14 years the cable probably stretched a bit. Is it an easy thing to do?

Thanks

the cable should be adjustable with a screw on the throttle body... loosen, pull snug, tighten

or, you can just put a couple of spacers where it connect to the tip of the pedal

Mine always shifted at 3500 at WOT, the most I got it up to was 4500 on the highway in 3rd gear, I was probably going 90 or so..

Goodmorning
this is interesting. I've had the same issue. When you loosen the bolts from the mountingplate on top ofthe inletmanifold, you can move it so that the play dissapears, easy. My cruise control react now better as well.

best regards
Ton

You can also adjust the kickdown cable for the transmission on the manifold. I set mine to downside a little earlier for stop and go traffic.

Oh right I missed that. Im sure there is some way to change the shift point. Ill ask the transmission instructor at school.
