Testing LS rearend
Just got a used limited slip 8.8 rear end in my 94 2wd xl. What is the best way to test the condition of the LS clutches? read somewhere to jack up one wheel and put torque wrench on lug nut. Should be over 50 ft/lbs to turn wheel. If clutches are worn out will I do any damage by driving or will it just act like my old open carrier diff? Was gonna put 80/90 plus additive in it? Does anyone run 75/140? Is this better if you hear LS chatter in tight turns?

I have no idea if its working at its full potential, but when i do get it up on a hoist every once in a while I can see it functioning. Me and a friend tried to spin the tires by hand and couldn't unlock them, so by my standards it works for me.
And I know thats not the right procedure lol
so you have an aftermarket carrier... the Auburn Cone style arent as strong as the factory clutch style....
you do a burn out and stick the tire hard enough it snaps the cone....
just power brake the thing on pavement.... that will tell you.
My rear end is open but punching it on gravel or dirt is spins both tires... even on wet surfaces I can spin both for a second then it kicks to one
