Can anyone tell me why my temperature gauge climbs to hot then settles back to normal? It does this periodically wile I'm driving, I already replaced the thermostat and its still doing it next I'm thinking water pump. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It usually does that when it's low on water. Make sure you don't have a leak.

Yeah the water level is fine and I do have a small leak but it does it when its full. Would it be the temperature sensor giving false readings?

That's just wishful thinking.

You can try it.
