Default Temp gauge?

Will installing a aftermarket temp gauge effect the operation of the engine? The reason I'm doing this is because Ive been all over the engine replacing the two temp sensors and have had no results. If i go this route were is a good place to connect the new gauge?

What's the issue you've been having? No, it won't affect the operation. Placement depends on if you want the factory gauge to still work or not....

I would like to have the factory gauge but at this point it seems out of reach. The first thing i replaced was the temp sensor that threads into the thermostat housing and then the temp sending unit. I checked the wire on the sending unit and it was good. The only thing i can think of next is the gauge in the dash and I'm not sure how to check if its bad.

Are you changing the sender or sensor? Sender 1 wire, sensor 2 wires. If you want to put an aftermarket, go with a mechanical, thats all I use. Go with an autometer super comp, or another domestic\mex made not chicom crap. I will tell you the easiest way to do so.

I have changed both the engine temperature sender and the engine coolant temperature sensor. What do you think of sunpro mechanical gauges?

I have always used and use Auto meter I pay a little more but the gauges I have in my truck are about 10 yrs old and still are accurate. We use so called quality chinese Rebco or the china gauges Summit sells in our race cars and we always have problems with them. VDO os Stewart Warner also has some descent gauges. It fairly easy to install.

What is the problem with the gauge? Turn on the key with the sender unhooked and see what the gauge says. Then ground the wire and see what the gauge says. Grounded will send the gauge one direction and not grounded will send it in the other direction. If it does this the gauge is fine. My temp gauge stays before the normal range but I have seen it move before when there's a problem.

I went ahead and installed the aftermarket gauge and it didn't read so i went on to the thermostat and there wasn't one there! When i put one in it the gauge climbed were it needed to be. I'm really hoping that wasn't the problem the whole time.
