Default Tail light troubles

When i bought my truck the DS marker light wouldn't come on. The brake, and turn signal light both worked tho. Now, the light is always illuminated. Turn signal still works, but the brake lights are always on on both sides. This making it sketchy to drive at night. Anyone have this problem before? I ain't very good with electrical, but it sounds like i have a short somewhere along the line. I've investigated, but haven't found any loose or broken wires. Any suggestions on what i should try next?

Make sure you are using the correct bulbs. Some have 2 separate filaments, and thus 2 separate contacts for them. On mine though they are the wedge type. Not sure what truck you have.

Perhaps swap the bulbs and see if you have the same issue.

I have tried swapping the bulbs already. and as for the truck, she's a '96 XL, single cab reg box 4x4 with a 5 speed standard. Oh yeh... with the lights off, the tail lights work normally(stopping lights, turn signals.) Let's get this thing figured so i can drive at night!
