Default Swapping intake with GT40

I am thinking about swapping my stock 5.0 upper and lower intake with the GT40 upper and lower. I am making my truck into a fast street truck and would like to do this. What problems will I be facing in regards to sensors, vacuum lines, coolant lines, clearances, etc.?

Which style GT40 intake? The GT40 from a 351 will not work, so I'm assuming the Explorer intake.....You shouldn't encounter any clearance issues...In Fact, I believe you can use the current throttle cable. Sensors will most likely be a wait n see thing. I don't know where Boynton beach is...but if you don't have an intake yet I've got one sitting here....

5.0 style. I've been reading up on intakes and saw this mustang at the junkyard with the intake on it. I am wondering if the vacuum selonoids above the drivers side valve cover will have to be moved? And if the 3 small and 1 big black vacuum tube on the existing intake will have a place to go on the new one?

Wasn't planning on it. Do I need too? Or should I? I was planning on getting aluminum heads anyway.

I had a 93 mustang with the 5.0 and did the gt40 swap...heads, intake...well worth it. For the price you cant beat it. Now the gt40 and gt40p heads are different. One has a different exhaust angle. I think the GT40p heads are direct swap, while the GT40 heads require a custom header.

How do you tell the difference looking at the engine in a junkyard?

The 95-early97 Explorers had GT40 heads and the later97 up Explorers had GT40P heads. You can indentify them easily two ways - the GT40 heads have three virtical bars on the front of the head with a "GT" cast into the head just below the #1 exhaust and the P heads have four vertical bars and "GTP" cast into them in the same place.

Ok. Great. Are the heads for the GT40 intake aluminum?

I think they are cast iron, but those heads, the cobra intake, and an E303 cam is a very nice setup.
