super chips
there right all those stock chips do is bump timing and play with fuel levels a little bit, just enough to be safe, the only way to get a good chip is going to a company that can dyno your truck and see what its got and make a custom chip, there are a few companies on the web ive found but your looking at dishin out a good $600 for it, your better off upgradeing your ignition and doing a timing bump
Yeah but the thing I wanted was the fuel curve adjusts from it. I have already done the bump then added the chip and had to back my timing back down a bit because it was pining.
You can get crazy paying $600 for a chip but on our trucks it really isnt going to make that big of a diff unless you have a bunch of mechanical mods that can utilize the custom tune. Otherwise a canned one is just fine.

Sure was with a 16 gallon tank pulling 8-10mpg (before efans +2mpg, underdrive pullies +1mpg). Means I can get an extra 16 miles per tank and sometimes that was MUCH NEEDED on the trails when towns 10 miles away and your running on fumes.
Im now pulling 12-14mpg overall after mods and each one was worth it.
gunboy111 "there are but its a bad idea to ues them. they can screw up your tranny and transfercace" ----true with newer trucks, but not ours. The chip doesnt alter the tranny at all on our trucks (need a separate chip for that.) And the hp gains on the dyno for the Jet chip are +-13hp. 13's not enough of a boost to tear anything up. Buddy took out the tranny on his 03 f150 with a hypertech in like 4 weeks after installing it. And the stroke 6.0 i ran blew injector o rings constantly from the banks 6 gun.
Our trucks are pretty safe and good candidates for chips because they need the extra power and there is marginal gains at best so no risk of overdoing it.

For twice what you payed I can alter my shiftpoints, tweak my fuel curves, adjust my timing at different RPMs, adjust spark controlling (yes with a factory ignition setup), change fuel pressure and see everything going on with my engine. Plus, shut off check engine lights and gain more fuel mileage than 1 mpg. And no, I'm not talking about a chip.
