Default suggested octane

Hello all! I'm new to the forum. I tried searching for an answer to my question but I didnt have any luck.

My Question is that is the factory suggested octane level for a 1988 302? I do not have the owners manuel, and my haynes manual does not have that much detail . While im at it, does anyone also know the listed Hp and Torq of said '88 302?

Thanks in advance!

Where as I do not know the HP or Torq, 87 or 89 gas should be more then fine for the engine as generally, you would only need 91 to 93 if you were running any type of forced induction as it varies the denotation level ( Supercharger, Turbo ) and or as retuned the cpu for a different air/fuel mix. That should apply to most any vehicle ( with a few odd ball brands being an exception ). But I know this a theoretical knowledge, not hands on. Anybody whose actually experimented with it, be interested to hear results. :-)

i believe hp was 185 and torque was 270. 87 octane will be fine.

Thanks for the info. I get some denotation unless I run 92-93 octane or a octane boost. I will get a timing light and check my advance. It must be off. But my off idle responce was good, and so was my high rpm. hmm.
Thanks!

Fuel injected vehicles are designed to run on 87 octane. Anything more is a waste of money, unless the vehicle has been modified. Check the timing, and if you're still having problems check the computer for codes.
