Default Straight axle

What is a straight axel out of a 79 f150 worth. Dana 44. I have the chance to buy one. How can i tell the ratio before i buy it. The guy doesnt know he can find any tags he said the person before him said 3 50 but they didnt make that ratio. The only number he said he could find was 072 on the bottom of the pumpkin. What would i have to change to get it to fit a 87. And also how would you get the front driveshaft to to line up with the transfercase.

I had a 83 f-150 4x4 and it had 3.50 gears in it, but it had 9inch rear end in it.

You just have yo make sure the front and the rear ends are the same gear so you want tare something up.

With it out of the truck the only way to really know is pull the cover off and look at the ring gear, it will be stamped on the side. If its 3.54, it will work with your 3.55.

Id ask him but he probly wouldnt pull the cover off. I guess 350 must be uncommon. Would gears out of a 95 fit inside of it.

Chances are if you buy it you need to lift it and with lifting it you put bigger tires on. So why go through all the work of a SAS and leave it stock gearing.
