Steering soooo hard.
my steering box went about 3 months ago...could only turn the wheel when the truck was moving, but even then it was the hardest workout i ever had...I found out that all my fluid was dumping out from the seal around the lower spindle where the pitman arm is connected...Usually if the pump is running..you'd be able to hear it, and if you take the fill cap off the pump, u can see inside to determine....I replaced my box and that did the trick...
Update, picked up a steering box for 40 bucks. But I got the wheels off the ground and I can turn left and right with some squeaks and creaks so I dunno if is the box at all. And I found the return line has a hole in it so I guess I found the leak. Also found a leak from the tranny somewhere. I will replace the line and see if that works. Fingers crossed.
Replaced the line and low and behold the power steering works! No the pump sounds like a dying goose mind you, but it works. The steering is sloppy and loose and it pulls left when braking although i think this may be because of a front right brake issue. What do you think? ball joints? bushing?
