Default starting problem

Every now and then i start my 94 f150 XLT for the 1st time of the day and just take off without letting the engine get warmed up, I drive for a short trip to the store or something and turn it off, when i return to start the engine...it just turns and wont start. But i can get it started every time if i put the gas pedal to the floor first. does anyone know what this may be?

It could be a failing coolant temp. sensor,I have had to replace quite a few of them at work,it may be something else like ign. module or coil but once they start to fail they will usually act up all the time. I would try to get the computer scanned at your local parts store and see if you have any codes or look at the data from the coolant temp. sensor.
