start issue / fuel pump
I just finished installing a new leaf spring on the drivers side of my 92 5.0 2x4, its been up on blocks for the past few weeks as i tackled the project during school. I went to start it with a battery that is questionable but i also used a charger set to start while i tried to start it, the truck didnt start it just made a loud ticking noise repeatedly. Something else i noticed was the sound of the fuel pump on the tank, I have a single tank that the po had installed new, the fuel pump usually makes noise when the key is in the ignition but usually only a few seconds, now the pump continues to make noise as long as the key is in.
Anybody have any ideas as to how i can get this truck back up and running?
Thanks
Matt

Check the relay in the fuse box. You can swap the horn and fuel pump relays and see if that works.
That and repeated ticking noise sounds like the battery is dead or you have a bad connection at the terminal.

Thank you for the advice, the battery must be finished. I ran it off my other car's battery and it started fine. I also messed around with the relays, the fuel pump relay works fine, maybe it just needed to be taken out and put back. Problem solved! I could have figured this one out on my own i think:P but i was worried because i need it for work this week.
