Default Squeaking at startup?

I've got a squeaking sound at startup that lasts for about 5 minutes and goes away on my 91 F-150. I replaced the serpentine belt last year but I'm still wondering if that's the culprit. Keep in mind the truck sees a lot of off road conditions, mud, and all of that good stuff. What all could these noises be coming from?

thanks everyone

Hi there

I have a similar issue but with a 99 f-150. Can you tell me what makes you think its the tensioner? I have been replacing items which I thought was the culprit but so far no luck.

Thanks,
Dave

Well, wrong year forum, but the reason the tensioner makes it squeal is because the belt slips from not enough tension. Simple test is to push down then pull up on the belt, if you can move it more than .5" in either direction then it's not tight enough. The belt play may be different for your year but you can google that or ask in the 97-03 forum.
