Speedometer quit working
I have a 1990 f150 5.0 2wd.Yesterday I realized my speedometer quit working. Its just hanging there in the 6 o clock position. My odometer and all other gauges are working properly. Today I took the cable out of the tail of the transmission. The gear on the end of the cable and the drive gear looked fine. I just spun the gear on the cable and it didn't move the needle at all. Any suggestions on what to check next or if anyone knows what the problem is would be helpful.
I had this problem on my old dodge. Don't think we ever fixed it but it sounds like the cable is broken somewhere in the line. Might not be it but that's what it sounds like to me.
Just bought a fairly new F150 with 20,000 miles. Going down the highway today and the "wrench" popped up on my display window, then the speedometer stopped working and the airbag light showed up. When I shut the truck off after pulling over to the side of the road, everything came back. Took it to the dealer to check codes on the computer and none showed up.. what's going on.... I didn't even put on 800 miles yet.... worries me now when I go somewhere!

You might try posting your question in the right section for the year of your truck.
Things happen like this all the time on my Mustang Forum. Your problem 'might' not happen again.
