Default Spark Plugs

So the other day while waiting for my dad to get to the school to give me a jump (friend's corrola couldn't even give me enough power to crank lol), my friend and I decided to go on a goose chase of the engine bay. I started him on this spark plug I saw 4 months ago when replacing the thermostat. It was sitting right on the bracket thing that the power steering pump and all that are on. Anyway, it takes a contortionist to get down there. So here's my question: It was a platnium spark plug. I still need to check my other plugs to see what they are, but would running platnium plugs instead of the stock copper ones effect anything on a fully stock 300?

And second question: checking spark plugs, do I just take the wire off, and unscrew out of the head like a lawn mower engine? With the 5/8 in socket of course

Stock evetything, including timing, Motorctaft x2 plats. Their x2 plat Finewires are better! Yes, a very uncomfortable lawn mower. W/ extensions.

I guess I should clarify, the plug I found was an Autolite Platnium. Yes, stock timing, everything besides exhaust. I'll pull the others tommorow afternoon (no time like a friday afternoon to work on your truck lol) and figure out what they are.

What is this x2 thing you're doing in front of the names? I don't have a clue what you mean!

Yep, Both electrodes are Plat plated. rather than just 1. On the the x2 Plat Motorcraft Finewires, the center electrode almost comes to a point, and requires less resistance overcome to fire. Less likely to retain heat that can build up, causing uncontrolled detonation (PING). Great for stock gap! But not so good for increased gaps. You sound like a stock gap guy to me! (at the moment) I guess you could say Finewires are the newest thing in plugs, however they are not a "Gimmick". They work well. So do the AC/ Delco Rapidfire x2 Finewires. On the Autolites, I have a set in my garage. Darned if I know why. Maybe they fit the lawnmower. Probably not. I really like my lawn mower!

I'll definately have to settle this by seeing what's currently in the head. The autolite I pulled out of the crevice next to the engine only had 1 tip

. A spark plug has two electrodes normally. The center electrode & the Ground tung Electrode. Some novelty plugs have a split in the Ground tung electrode. Multiple ground electrodes (like the Bosche line) are refered to as x3 & x4 ect. Plats (stay away from Bosche for your truck/ Work great in a Porshe). I Don't think Autolite makes anything like that. Never cared to know. I Hope not.
