These trucks are getting old enough, heck on some parts The Zone and Motorcraft might be the same source. But like they say, It's your money spend it how you want to! 😄

Broke down on the side of the road at 2a.m. with a dead alternator. 24 hour Autozone right down the street. Do I wait until 9a.m. for O'reilly Auto Parts to open or get my truck fixed and get to work? DUH!

New parts says that I fixed my truck. Be it Motorcraft or Duralast, most of us scrape by with what we can scrape by with. We are driving 20 year old trucks either because we don't want to spend the money on a new truck or we cannot afford a new truck which in either case, more so than not, leads back to the Duralast Brand. Am I wrong? I don't think so. If you sit on the side of the road broke down because you despise autozone that much and would rather wait on the dealer or Higher Dollar Parts Store to open, then your pretty much a dumb ***!

Project truck with a nice bank roll...okay. Honestly, most of our "Project Trucks" are...."I really need to get this POS back together" project trucks. If I buy craftsman or Snap On tools, good for me. If I break that wrench that I only have one of while broke down on the side of the road and go buy a great neck wrench at my 24 hour Autozone, I get free tool replacement 24/7 without waiting on the tool truck or Sears, which by the way, is fast disappearing. While my buddies truck is sitting broke down in the shop waiting on Tim the Tool Guy to show up with that specialty socket, I'm out playing with my great neck crap rattling around in the tool box.

Just sayin'!

Well said Mr Unit. I'd like to see Matt have a crapped out radiator, go to the Ford Dealer and I'd bet they'd want every bit of $400 for it. Something tells me he'd be shopping a bit. I really think Ya stuck your foot in your mouth. Wisdom comes with age.

Not sure how the subject got changed to alternators. I have had bad luck with parts store reman alternators. The original lasts forever and then parts store reman crap is endless replace replace replace. I would take a blind luck pick and pull alternator over the the parts store reman crap.

I was responding to mattbarron94. I do believe in Motorcraft plugs and filters, but standard replacement parts............If Oreilly is open, I try to go with them. If not, It would be foolish to sit broke down in a pinch waiting for a dealer or other parts store to open if you have other options such as a 24hour Autozone. Any 3g alternator you purchase now is going to be reman. They may say new, but I want to know who is still casting all new parts for a 20 year old alternator unless your purchasing a chrome or anodized unit for a show truck. Like SDMartin said, you have no idea what your buying today. Motorcraft and every other manufacturer is contracting out services to China, Japan, Mexico, Etc. Even Craftsman tools are not all built buy Craftsman anymore. Do we know for a fact that there is a Motorcraft plant pumping out oil filters and spark plugs? I don't know. I like those and use them. Do you know for sure that your favorite oil comes from the same plant with the same 5 employees that give a crap on Friday at Beer 30? Same goes for any of this stuff now days. Just googled it, Autolite builds motorcraft plugs (to ford specs) and Purolator builds motorcraft filters (to ford spec). A quick search for "Motorcraft Parts Manufacturing Plant" turned up no results for a physical plant. Other results show (Non-U.S. Made).

And for what it's worth, Delphi builds the TPS and IAC for Ford and you'd be buying the actual OE IAC and TPS.

Ring and pinion, use Ford Racing. Made with precision at Fords Sterling Plant. Other brands, even the best can be noisey even with perfect setup. I guess if your gonna run 35" mud tires it won't really matter, save some money go with the Chineese stuff.

I would think Yukon gears are fine, most brands can be a little clattery compared to Ford Racing. How much noise were those making in that 900 miles?
