I run Motocraft single plats, quite a bit longer life than coppers.

when you do the timing advance how do you know where the right spot is? ive seen people running between 12 and 15

You need a timing light connected to the battery and the #1 cylinder plug wire. Loosen the distributor and pull the SPOUT. Start the engine and shine the light on the timing marks on the crank pulley. Helps if you clean up the marks and highlight them with a paint marker.

Turn the distributor to where you want it then tighten back down and put back the spout.

ive read the how to on the bronco forum i know to put it on plug #1 and put tape on the marks ( ill probably paint instead) but what are you looking for to know thats where you want it? will the engine sound better or do you just pick a number

There are timing marks on the timing cover like a cut triangle piece. And on the harmonic balancer there are thin lines that get rusted up, clean them off and paint white.

Engine may sound a bit different, just don't it so far it will start to knock. 14 is as far as I could go, 16 started to knock a tiny bit. But I have a 4.9L don't know how far you can go on a 5.0
