Default slow refuel

I have replaced both fuel tanks on my 1996 f150. Now i have to refuel very slowly on both tanks or the fuel splashes out. Didnt have this with the old tanks. What did I do wrong?

I'm guessing something happened to your vent lines

Agree with stepside....your filler neck / tank vent is either clogged or pinched.

Thanks for the response. I removed the inner plastic line on the front tank thinking it was the problem but it is still slow. The rear does have a slight kink in it but i havent had time to work on it. Thinking about replacing both filler hoses. What do you think?

No! they are getting old and hard. I think thats how the rear got the kink. I bent it to reinstall and it did not return to its original shape. The front seems be holding its shape but still wont take fuel.

My 1995 F150 did the same thing with the front take when I replaced it. Either take the smaller inner plastic tube out of the filler neck (this is the vent that allows the vapor from filling back up out of the tank) and if that doesn't work, try getting a new rubber filler neck hose and hose clamp it up at a steeper angle..I just dealt with it on mine as annoying as it was..

Edit: the problem with taking out the smaller inner hose, is that you will get a nasty smell of gas around your truck all the time, and if you smoke, i wouldn't do it around the truck with that pipe taken out lol

Good enough reason. We can't see it from where we're sitting. Just by what you describe to us.
