I have a 96 f150 ext cab 4wd, and to response to "just call me sean" about the pitman arm not being a wearable part, the pitman in mine did wear out. i thought the linkage was causing so when i looked at it before i changed it it looked like the dust boot was squashed to tightly. When i loosend the linkage nut it fell right out. I replaced it just thinking it was still the linkage but it fixed little of the play. Over the years it had worn the hole larger then it should be and that was why it was so loose. New pitman arm and linkage, much much better now.

I did say the pitman arm is a non wearable part, so it SHOULD never need changing. That old drag link must have been seized to wear out the pitman arm.
