Default Sloppy Column Shifter

Hey fellas, has anybody had any issues with their column shifter getting loose? Shifting still seems tight, but the shifter is really loose in the column. It's even preventing me from starting the truck at times because it does not want to go all the up into the park position (even though the truck is in park).

Just wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this. Hoping I don't have to change out the enitre column.

Thanks in advance for any help offered!

If you have a Haynes manual, look in the automatic transmission section, it has the adjustment you need to make to correct the problem.

I had to do this on my 87 F-150

For my truck, I had to adjust the bellcrank shift linkage and the neutral safty start switch.

With your truck being a 95 model, i think you will have a cable shift linkage instead of the bellcrank shift linkage

I had this exact problem where my truck wouldnt start! Easy fix, its two allen head bolts under the dash by the steering column. Tight them up and it will tighten up the shifter and put it back in the correct position. Fixed mine immediately when I did it, now it feels like it was brand new.
